This is a Call for Expression of Interest to participate in the new IJIS Emergency Incident Data Interoperability (EIDI) Working Group. The IJIS Institute will be conducting this initiative in concert with APCO, the standards organization responsible for stewardship of the Emergency Incident Data Document (EIDD) specification. The EIDD specification was developed jointly by representatives from APCO, NENA, and the technology industry.  Please respond to mike.alagna@ijis.org to indicate your interest in joining the working group by 02/17/2017.

The working group will be comprised of leading solution providers to review the specification for exchanging emergency incident information between agencies and regions that implement Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and other next-generation emergency communications technologies. Emergency incident information exchanges supported by the new specification will encourage interoperability between different manufacturers’ systems located within one or more public safety agencies and with other incident information management stakeholders. APCO recently stated, “The seamless exchange of data, regardless of vendor platform, geographic boundaries or agency response areas, is a core element of interoperability in an NG911 environment.”

The purpose of the working group will be to define the interoperability services packaging and conformance specifications.  The EIDD has evolved to support a full complement of interoperable emergency incident data exchanges between a variety of public safety systems (CAD to CAD, CAD to records management system, CAD to mobile data, etc.).  As the EIDD is implemented, it is intended to be used to support an even greater variety of public safety related data exchanges.

The working group will unite technology users with industry solution providers in a collaborative environment to evaluate conformance specifications and validate testing methodologies to address real world challenges. IJIS will provide the SpringboardTM conformance and certification platform and will work to encourage agency adoption of the specification during the acquisition process to foster broader adoption.

If you respond to this Expression of Interest, you will soon receive an invitation to join the first meeting to be held on 02/24/2017. This initial meeting will provide attendees with additional information, as well as an opportunity to share ideas on the direction and subject matter of the working group.
